Tabakalera kicks off September with a packed calendar of events

Tabakalera1Starting this September, San Sebastián will have another cultural space. After four years of reformation, Tabakalera opens its doors for the public again with an extensive program full of activities aiming for at all audiences. If you're staying at our hotel in San Sebastián, it would be interesting to look at the agenda for this former tobacco factory. Concerts, workshops, exhibitions and more are waiting to offer different means for your leisure.

The opening is scheduled for this September 11, and from this date, the locals and, in general, all those seeking new ways to enjoy their free time in Tabakalera find a great option.
September kicks off with force. These are some of the activities taking place this month in the international center of contemporary culture:

1. Opening Program. From 11 to 13 September the opening event will be celebrated with many special activities along with artists, performances, exhibitions, visits, workshops, etc. Among the proposed activities include the opening party with DJ Chico Tropics and Amy Plin, a preview of 'transcendental cinema' with the ballet dancer Lyncoln Diniz and performances by local artists or film screenings, among many others.

2. Exposition of 'Audiovisual contours'. The showroom of Tabakalera will open with 'audiovisual contours', which includes projects such as "All of Us Want to Work Less (El Eobo)" of Itziar Barrio. Attendees will thus be able to witness both a performance and a shoot with a theft as a backdrop. It will take place on September 18 in two passes. Seating is limited, so registration is already open to the public.

3. Workshops for age of 5-99. One Sunday each month, this space welcomes the smallest of the house with the organization of bilingual workshops. Both children from 5 years old and adults can participate in these workshops that cover topics ranging from work on drifts inside the building until the exhibition approaches Tabakalera. The workshops begin on September 20 and it is possible to enroll.

4. International Film Student Meeting. Tabakalera will host this meeting - short films competition. Co-organized by the acclaimed San Sebastian Festival, selected films will be presented at the public sessions. If you like movies, pay attention to the schedule and don’t miss it out. The meeting will take place between 22 and 25 September.

5. "Laboratory" activities. One of the highlights in Tabakalera is Hirikilabs, the unique place that offers technology-related activities and the digital environment. The September 15 kicks off a four sessions aims to act as a space for reflecting on and experimenting with how and why we use technology, as a support mechanism so that artists and creators can realise their projects and as a tool to empower citizens, through workshops, working groups, calls for projects, etc. This collaboratively designed proposal is open for those with the most creative minds, allowing them to learn, experience and, above all, share.

6. Historical visit - A must for those who want to delve into the history of this unique building. The experiences and memories of former employees and the subsequent transformation of the place are the core of these visits. These will take place every Saturday morning.
