5 Events to Enjoy this Summer in Donostia

1. Heineken Jazz Festival.
This famous music festival's 51st anual event will take place from 20 to 25 July. Ounce again, this festival will bring together the best jazz musicians, giving both San Sebastian and visitors the opportunity to enjoy the finest nightlife. This time the Heineken Jazz Festival will feature the participation of artists such as Diana Krall, Charles Bradley, Ibrahim Maalouf, Steve Coleman and Marc Ribot, among others. The performances will take place in Plaza de la Trinidad, Kursaal, Victoria Eugenia Theatre and the San Telmo Museum.

2. 77 Musical Fortnight Festival
Since 1939 the Musical Fortnight Festival's classical music fills the summer air in San Sebastian. The festival is proud to be the oldest festival of classical music in Spain and longest-running in Europe. The 77th edition will bring the Kursaal Auditorium formations as Inglés Baroque Soloists, Budapest Festival Orchestra, Balthasar -Neumann -Ensemble and Radio Orchestra Frankfurt. In addition to the fine selection of musicians, Mozart will play an important role in this festival. The program includes some of his most famous classics such as the opera 'Don Giovanni. The 77th Musical Fortnight will run throughout the month of August.

3. Semana Grande
Everything is coming into place to host another year of Semana Grande (Great Week) in San Sebastian which is popular among the young and old. From 13 to 20 August the city will be filled with concerts, sports, children's activities and, of course, the International Fireworks Competition. Every night, professionals from around the world compete to provide the best fireworks show and flood the sky with light and colour.

On August 27, Ondarreta Beach will host a festival aimed at bringing the sea to its citizens. Everyone can participate in the provided workshops, games and planned musical routes. Itsasfest was created to promote maritime culture and awareness of sustainability.

5. Kutxa Kultur Festibala
Amusement Park Mount Igeldo, returns for the fifth consecutive year for the independent music festival, Kultur Kutxa Festibala. Cat Power and The Communist Tenant are some of the bands confirmed so far and promise to bring freshness to the festival. The festival will take place on 2 and 3 September.
